My Thoughts:
So, when I read some of the reviews for this book on Goodreads, they were actually pretty comical, it seemed to me that people either loved the book or absolutely hated it, and unfortunately, I turned out not to like this book very much.
When I read the summary for it I was like WHAT? THREE WOMEN WEEPING TEARS OF BLOOD? DEMIGODS? SIGN ME UP! I was pretty disappointed in what followed. The plot was somewhat original, but there were some elements in the story that were pretty predictable. I didn’t really like any of the characters, including the main character, Helen, she was just too perfect, which didn’t really make her easy to relate to. Like come on, you have to have some flaws! Angelini’s writing didn’t exactly work wonders on me either, sometimes her writing got me so confused. Overall, her writing just seemed a bit rushed. The family dynamic actually reminded me of Twilight a little bit so…there’s that.
Don’t get me wrong, there were some parts that I did enjoy. I really liked learning about the Greek mythology and stories, and there were even some parts where I chuckled a little.
